Bernie is a specialist lineout coach with the Wellington Lions after an extensive professional career as a second row forward.
He began his playing career at the Bay of Plenty (NPC). He played for the Chiefs (Super Rugby), then returned to Wellington and had two seasons with the Hurricanes (Super Rugby).
Bernie had overseas stints with Connacht (Ire) and with Toshiba Brave Lupus (Japan).
