Eddie is widely regarded as one of the most successful and innovative coaches in the sport’s history.
A career that has spanned 3 decades and includes the following coaching stints:
- Australia (Wallabies) – Head coach 2001–2005, leading Australia to the 2003 Rugby World Cup final and winning multiple Tri Nations matches.
- Japan (Brave Blossoms) – Head coach 2012–2015 and again from 2024, transforming Japan into a competitive force and engineering one of the sport’s most iconic victories — a historic 34–32 win over South Africa at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
- England – England’s first foreign head coach in 2015, Jones guided them to multiple Six Nations Championships (including a Grand Slam in 2016). A win rate that became the highest in England coaching history including an unbeaten calendar year for England rugby and the 2019 Rugby World Cup final.
- Wallabies again – Returned as Wallabies head coach in 2023.
- Brave Blossoms again in 2024 on a long-term contract through to the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
